Jhumpa Lahiri’s The Lowland came out in 2013 just a year before the elections and when the new government in India was formed. I read the book last summer and these quotes from the book somehow felt as if they were written for the current times, for how things were unfolding under the new regime. Little did I know that they will come alive even more as the days pass by.
